SEAS Graduate Accepts Position as Data Scientist at Google, Inc.

Congratulations to Matt Miller on graduating with his doctorate in Statistics! He is now a Data Scientist at Google, Inc. Matt completed his doctoral thesis, Bayesian Methods for Large Spatial Data Sets with Materials and Environmental Science Applications, under the guidance of SEAS Director, Brian Reich. As a SEAS fellow, Matt was integral in the development of the Bayesian Statistics tutorials, success of the internal and external advisory board meetings, and the MATDAT Hackathon. Matt has presented his research at several professional meetings. In 2019, he won best presentation at the Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference in Greensboro, NC. In the same year, he advanced his skills by attending the Duke Natural Language Processing Winter School. Most recently, Matt participated on a panel to discuss the value of having interdisciplinary research experience, and his experiences with communicating this specialty during the interview process.
