The Research Triangle Nanotechnology Network (RTNN) has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Opal Mann Green Engagement and Scholarship Award!

Presented annually since 2010 by the NC State Office of Outreach and Engagement, RTNN will be recognized for its outstanding contributions to nanotechnology research, education, and community engagement at an awards ceremony on April 29. NC State MSE is well represented with RTNN directed by MSE faculty members Profs Jacob Jones, and Nina Balke, and MSE staff member Program Manager Phillip Strader.

At the 2024 College of Engineering Awards for Excellence, three NC State MSE staff were recognized for their exceptional contributions and achievements.

- Elaine Emory, Grants and Contracts Manager, was nominated for Efficiency and Innovation
- Hillary Stone, Academic Advisor, was nominated for Human Relations
- George Martell, IT and Safety/Security Manager, was nominated for Efficiency and Innovation

Standout nominee, Hillary Stone, was selected to advance to the university-level Awards for Excellence, a testament to her exceptional contributions and commitment to fostering positive human relations within the MSE department.

Department head Don Brenner, Communicator Niki Jennings, and the 2023 Award of Excellence winner, University Program Specialist Berni Premachandra were in the audience to cheer them on.

As the curtains draw to a close on his undergraduate journey, Ian Mercer, a hometown hero from Cary, is set to embark on a new chapter of his life. Graduating from NC State MSE next month, Ian reflects upon his path, accomplishments, and aspirations with a sense of pride and gratitude.

Today is day two of the NC State MSE 100-Year Celebration, and we are well underway into the Research Symposium. Morning talks have been presented by alums Paul Besser of @entegrisinc and Elif Balkas of @runwithwolfspeed. Professor and Department head Don Brenner of @ncstatemse opened the symposium with the history of MSE. The #finalfour excitement is also palpable for tomorrow’s @packmensbball and today’s @packwomensbball games! #gopack #ncstatemse100
