On January 29th, 2019, ORaCEL (Organic and Carbon Electronics Labs) at NC State university held the Future of Materials Workshop at Talley Student Union on NC State’s campus. The aim of the workshop was to “address the grand challenges facing the next generation of functional materials by fostering collaborative activities that harness a wide-range of research tools and intellectual resources within the Research Triangle area.”
Participants submitted ideas for new research proposals and had an opportunity to present previously-published work. There were three categories of presentations for workshop: oral presentations, proposals, and poster presentations. The top 3 presentations in each category were selected, and the winners received a cash award. MSE’s own Stephen Amoah honored the department by presenting his research poster and presentation, “The Effects of Microlens Arrays on Organic Light Emmitting Diodes.” Amoah is a grad student working with Professor Franky So. He took home the first place award and cash prize.
