James Mitchell, Ph.D. student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering from Prof. Veronica Augustyn’s group, received the Best Poster Award at the Materials Research Society (MRS) Spring 2017 Meeting in Phoenix, AZ. His work compared the electrochemical proton intercalation kinetics in a hydrated tungsten oxide to an anhydrous tungsten oxide in order to determine the effect of structural water on high power energy storage. In addition to the $500 poster award, James has been invited to present at the MRS/Sociedad Mexicana de Materiales (SMM) Student Poster Award Exchange Program at the 2017 International Materials Research Congress in Cancun, Mexico. The MRS and SMM will support his travel costs to the meeting in August 2017.
