Shelby Boyd, Ph.D. student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering from Prof. Augustyn’s group, received the American Vacuum Society (AVS) Mid-Atlantic Chapter Award for the best poster presentation at the Materials Research Society (MRS)/AVS/ASM Fall 2016 Joint Symposium. Her work is on binder-free composite molybdenum oxide and carbon nanotube electrodes for energy storage that combine high power and high energy in the same architecture. This research is in collaboration with the group of Prof. Philip Bradford at the NC State Dept. of Textile Engineering. The award comes with $500 and a year’s membership to AVS National.
