The Division of Academic and Student Affairs is pleased to join the University Honors Program in applauding the recent achievements of two University Honors Program participants. William Crumpler and Catherine McVey have been named Goldwater Scholars for 2015. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to promising students who intend to pursue research careers in the engineering, mathematics, and natural sciences fields.

William Crumpler, a junior in the Materials Science and Engineering program, plans to pursue a Phd in Materials Science and Engineering or Chemistry. Ultimately, he hopes to teach and conduct research on the synthesis and applications of nanomaterials at the university level. William was also a recipient of the highly competitive 2014 DAAD Rise summer internship grant to pursue research opportunities in Germany.
