Zhu Wins Outstanding Research Award

It is a pleasure to announce that Dr. Yuntian Zhu has been selected to receive the NC State Alumni Association Outstanding Research Award for 2008-2009.  Zhu received his award at a reception held May 27th of this year.

In recognition of the importance of research as an integral function of NC State, the North Carolina State Alumni Association makes three awards each year for outstanding research achievements. The awards are in the amount of $3,000 each, in addition to recognition as a distinguished NC State research person.  No more than two nominations are given per college in an academic year.  Being selected to receive this award is truly an honor.

During his award evaluation period which spanned from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, Dr. Zhu published 11 papers, most of which were published in prestigious high-impact journals.  Two were published in Physical Review Lettersone in Advanced Materials, one in Small, and three in Applied Physics Letters.  These 11 papers have been cited 59 times, an extraordinarily high number for papers published so recently.  In addition to these citations, his papers were collectively cited over 1,000 times during his evaluation period.

Zhu has also authored/co-authored three book chapters and was the inventor/co-inventor of four patents during his evaluation period.

Once again, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering would like to congratulate Dr. Zhu on his accomplishment and look forward to his future success.
