About the Role

The Engineering Rotational Development Program (ERDP)-Metallurgical Track is all about developing the next generation of materials engineers for Caterpillar. The purpose of Caterpillar’s Engineering Rotational Development Program is to harness your ability and further develop you through rotational assignments and learning opportunities so that you may not only fulfill your career goals but provide excellent service to Caterpillar and its customers. Our Engineering Rotational Development Program enhances the experience of engineering graduates transitioning from student to full-time engineer.

What You Will Do

You’ll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. The program is a 36-month entry-level development rotational program focused on building technical abilities in materials engineering roles including failure analysis, heat treatment, ferrous metallurgy, manufacturing operations, and materials testing.

Engineering Internship Details

Caterpillar’s Corporate Engineering Intern program is seeking students currently enrolled in a four-year university, to work side by side with engineering professionals to learn and apply themselves on project work within their teams.

Interns are empowered with assignments that provide them with experience and significant opportunities for learning. In addition to this work, Interns are able to network with leaders throughout the company to learn about areas of Caterpillar outside of their assigned team.

Students have the opportunity to deepen their business skills in their assignment through team and/or business partner interactions, develop and conduct presentations, and measure their success through the performance and evaluation process.

This is a 40-hour-per-week assignment, lasting 12 weeks.
