Permanent positions at NC State University are categorized as those established under the State Personnel Act (SPA) or those Exempt from the State Personnel Act (EPA). Staff positions typically fall into the SPA category. EPA positions are classified in one of four categories: EPA Professional, Faculty, Senior Academic Administrative Officer I, and Senior Academic Administrative Officer II. Postdoctoral employees are considered EPA Professionals.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at North Carolina State University seeks applications/nominations for new faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor (tenure/tenure-track).

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University is seeking to hire outstanding individuals in open rank tenured/tenure-track faculty in all areas of materials science and engineering, although candidates working in areas related to structural materials, soft materials, additive manufacturing, ceramics, energy materials, sustainable materials, and Machine Learning as applied to materials science are preferred. Successful candidates will have achieved or be on a trajectory for international prominence, and senior candidates will have demonstrated vision and skills to lead collaborative, multidisciplinary research efforts. We also value individuals who demonstrate a commitment to fostering creative teaching and instructional methods to enhance our undergraduate and graduate curricula.

Other Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to establish a funded, independent research program as well as to collaborate with other researchers at NC State.
The Candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
There may be additional administrative duties assigned, dependent upon candidate’s qualifications.
