MSE graduate student Chen Dong’s paper was selected as a Distinguished Paper during the Display Week Conference. Display Week is one of the largest international display conferences in the world and it was held on May 13-17, 2019 in San Jose, California. Less than 5% of the oral presentations were selected as Distinguished Papers. OLEDs are widely used as displays in mobile phones and TV, and more recently they are also used for lighting applications. Top-emitting OLEDs are known to experience color shift due to the microcavity effect. The novel multi-mode OLEDs support multiple waveguide modes and eliminate the color shift problem in OLEDs. A patent application based on this device concept has also been filed.
