MSE Makes Itself Known at Open House
The MSE department provided demonstrations and information at North Carolina State University's annual open house on Saturday, October 18. The event was held in Carmichael Gymnasium, and departments from all over the university came out to present information about their programs. "I don't really know what to ask, but I'm sure you've got a spiel," one student told us.
We do indeed. First, we talk about what MSE is. "Materials Science is about making materials that have properties that are useful for other things and also understanding the properties of advanced materials," Joe Tracy explained. He also used an extended cake metaphor to give a more detailed overview of how materials science works.
