Education

Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS
B.S. Chemical Engineering, Tianjin University, Tianjin, P. R. China.

Professional Experience

Right after his graduation from Kansas State University, Dejin joined North Carolina State University in 2004 as a research associate (post doctoral) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. What he had done at KSU was applying Chemical Engineering principles into semiconductor crystal growth processes. Specifically, he, under supervision of Prof. Edgar, developed a novel AlN crystal growth process employing microwaves as heat source. This process is capable of minimizing crucible temperatures, thus reducing the process cost. He also developed etching techniques to characterize dislocation density/distribution and polarity in bulk AlN crystals.

Before coming to the United States, Dejin worked in China National Offshore Oil Corp. as a chemical process engineer. He was responsible for chemicals market study and chemical process design/optimization of a world-scale polyolefin plant.

Current Research Project

Dejin is currently involved in bulk AlN crystal growth and characterization project.
