Education

B.E in Metallurgical Engineering (1998), Regional Engineering College Durgapur, Durgapur, India.
M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering (2000), Washington State University, Pullman, U.S.A.
Ph. D. in Materials Science and Engineering (2004), North Carolina State University,Raleigh, U.S.A.

Professional Experience

After completing his Bachelors Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Regional Engineering College Durgapur, India, Nirmal recently completed his Master Degree in Materials Science and Engineering under Dr. Ben Q. Li at WSU, Pullman. For his thesis he developed a code capable of simulating dendritic microstructure evolution in castings under the influence of magnetically driven flows using parallel computing.
He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at North Carolina State University in the field of silicon on diamond technology.

Current Research Projects

Nirmal's area of research involves the growth and characterization of highly oriented diamond (HOD) films for their eventual application in high frequency, high power, and radiation-hard electronics.
