Professional Experience

Rafi enrolled at NC State University in 2001. He is a doctoral student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and a member of the laboratory for research in Wide Bandgap Materials.

Before coming to NC State, Rafi studied in the Physics Department at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, where he worked as an undergraduate and graduate research assistant in the Thin Film Physics and X-Ray Diffraction Facility under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Martinez. Research projects included the growth and characterization of epitaxial, multilayer thin films of semimetals and e-beam lithography with SEM. He also worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the Physics Department, while undertaking graduate studies in Chemical Physics.

Current Research Project

Rafi is currently working on the growth and characterization of aluminum nitride bulk crystals.
